My name is Jan, I am a fully qualified, accredited, professionally registered and experienced counsellor.

I am 46 years old, married, with two adult sons.
I was born in New Zealand and moved to WA in 2004 and now live in Ellenbrook, Perth, Western Australia where I live and work


My counselling style is a straightforward approach utilising an eclectic mix of therapies (depending on the client) although I primarily lean towards the CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) approach. I also have an irrepressible sense of humour that I find an important aspect of counselling in many areas.

I appreciate and respect cultural and religious beliefs, however, I do not use anything specific as a basis for my approach to counselling - again, this is dependant on the client.

Online and phone counseling allows the client anonymity, is less confronting than face to face counselling and is likely to be more accessible and convenient to clients. It does have it's limitations due to the fact that the counsellor can not utilise the visual and auditory cues of the client. Therefore, for the client to get the most out of on-line counselling it would be important for them to be as honest and straightforward as possible with their "online" counsellor.
